EXCELLENT STUFF !!....

..so there is software that allows you to scan a drawn image into the PC...and the PC or software for that matter recognizes the lines separately as opposed to seeing the whole image as a whole.??...In other words, I won't have to trace my image once it's downloaded??....

Quote:
you can take a scanned image (drawing) into photoshop and color it is there alls you have to do is select the magic wand tool....
..am I reading that right?

...I got a good laugh out of this one...

The Trial

The judge says to a double-homicide defendant, "You're charged with
beating your wife to death with a hammer.
"A voice at the back of the courtroom yells out, "You bastard!
"The judge says, "You're also charged with beating your mother-in-law
to death with a hammer."
The voice in the back of the court room yells out, "You bastard!"
The judge stops and says to the guy in the back of the courtroom,
"Sir, I can understand your anger and frustration at this crime.
But no more outbursts from you, or I'll charge you with contempt. Is that
understood?"
The guy in the back of the court stands up and says,
"I'm sorry, Your Honour, but for fifteen years, I've lived next door to that bastard,
and every time I asked to borrow a hammer, he said he didn't have one."

....ok, back to what I was saying....errrrrrrr....typing

I have attached a hand drawn eagle (meaning pencil and paper). Would it be possible to scan this image and then have the ability to outline and color it?

That's my real question.

now you would do the outline in illustrator then take it over to photoshop to create the effects and shadings....i have not gotten that far on this elf yet, but when i do i will be sure to post you some updates...

..just keep on making believe that I'm only tree years old.

When you say "do the outline in illustrator" ......what exactly does that mean? Outline it with your mouse? Or does illustrator pick up your lines and darken them.....or.....or .......or......????

no you have to use your mouse to do this....there is a tool palette in illustrator and there is a tool called the "pen" tool, the pen tool is your best friend....you have to manually do your lines....

now in photoshop you can use the "magic" wand tool to select your lines....example dragon....this is just a basic sketch...i will show you the selected lines that i do in photoshop (basically what you are talking about)

here is the dragon using the magic wand tool to select the lines...see how it looks like crappola....but you can fix this by using the eraser tool....in photoshop...

best way to do it is to ink your sketch then scan it in it makes it easier for the tool to pick up solid lines...example lion

MrsSFrances I like your work better . I did that quickly in Illustrator, PhotoShop will work as well, I just prefer to work on line drawings in Illustrator.

MrsSFrances, I first brought it into PhotoShop, converted to grayscale, a little blur, a little unsharpen mask, adjusted curves and contrast, saved as a .tiff. Then I used Adobe Streamline to convert it to a vector image .eps then did the rest in Illustrator.

Thanks for the comments on our site...unfortunatly it is in desperate need of an update, most of those projects are old.. the plumbers house is the one with the leaky pipes The updates are on my to-do list everyday, but I never make it

...WOW!!........you two are light-years ahead of me. I'm loving ALL your replys. I have "Photo-draw 2000" but I can't find any option to smoothen out the lines drawn with the tablet or mouse, nor can I find anything in there to transfer my "pencil'd" stuff into pixie dust. I also have Photoshop Elements 1.0, and I can't seem to find anything in there either.

I'm guessing I should go out and buy .....???....

I tried to download that "trial" thing last night.......I remeber you saying that somewhere. According to my PC.....and the fact that I have dial-up, it was going to take up to 6 hours ????....I started it, and was taking forever....so I cancelled the load. Maybe I can find someone to ummm........- - - - me one.

It seems like I could step it up a notch with those 2 softies

....again, I have to say....you and Chris do some super stuff. Loved that beak Monique. It doesn't seem like it would take long either...once the picture is drawn anyways.

Thanks again for your time and patience.
