This case should serve a lesson to all about how the media manipulates facts to distort them to serve their agenda. NBC has just admitted that they "edited" his statement to make it look like he stalked and killed Martin. This is definately true for politics as well. I truly believe that I can't believe anything i see or read any more will be 100% truthful unbiased journalism. There was once a day when any news that had any skewed opinion in it was not considered news and then considered "opinion". Those days are long gone.

it kind of struck me the other day... not from this Zimmerman case tho
that everything we learn about from the media is manipulated journalism
to keep us either PACIFIED or stupefied into "disinformation land".

the case i'm referring too
completely different subject i know
is the amount of disappearing persons
from our national parks
that from the declaration of park officials

Yes, Yes and Yes.
I prolly watched 80% of the trial and couldn't believe the speculation, conjecture and twisting of the facts by the press. What a bunch of BS.
The Press is based on sensationalism, viewer numbers and $$.
They are So far away from reporting the facts and unbiased journalism it comes nowhere near the original purpose the press was intended for.
I give those Women on the jury tremendous credit for not caving into emotion, and arriving at a verdict based on the evidence and Florida law.

My son asked me what i thought of the case just bfore the jury went into deliberation. My response was that I hope the justice system works and that the jurors make an honest determination based on the facts. I explained how the media manipulated (not just NBC) the story to sensationalize and did more of a disservice than anyone, especially Trayvon & Zimmerman.

sad story all around. Given the evidence I dont see how he could have been convicted.
Its funny, if Zimmerman had the done the exact same thing - getting out of the car, calling the police, etc and saved someone, he would have been called a hero. He was trying to do the right thing.

There wasnt enough facts to convict him. But "IMHO" and thats OPINION, is that if Zimmerman wasnt trying to be a Herowannabecop the kid would be alive, and prob in jail where he belongs. Hey bud, you cant fight, your not tough, leave this to the real cops.

The cops kill unarmed people too. When they fear for thier own safety .
What we don't know is if Zimmerman would have been killed if he hadn't had the gun

This is speculation but I'd be willing to wager had he not had a gun he would have stayed in his car.

Women’s jewelry and a watch found in Trayvon Martin’s school backpack last fall could not be tied to any reported thefts, the Miami-Dade Police Department said Tuesday.

The Miami Herald in its Tuesday editions reported that it had obtained a Miami-Dade Schools Police Department report that showed the slain teenager was suspended in October for writing obscene graffiti on a door at his high school. During a search of his backpack, the report said, campus security officers found 12 pieces of women’s jewelry, a watch and a screwdriver that they felt could be used as a burglary tool.

Funny how I'm (probably most of the rest of the country also) just hearing about this today.

Sad situation for both families. Based on the law and no other party around to tell their side, Zimmerman would have had to have been found not guilty. That said, the law needs changing.

This case was not at all decided on the stand your ground statutes as the defense avoided it like the plague. This case's defense was presented totally from the self defense point of view. If I had a kid on top of me smashing my head against the sidewalk and I had a gun in my pocket , I'd have shot him before I passed out from the head bashing. I believe if Zimmerman had passed out , the kid would have kept bashing his head in until he was dead. if I think that , its totally understandable that Zimmerman also thought his life was in danger and fired his weapon to save himself. now there was a ton of stupidity all over the place that night but it has zero bearing on Zimmerman's decision that his life was in danger and he defended himself. Good shoot , good defense , good verdict.

No winners in this, no matter what happened.
It looks like now, if you are found not guilty, some politician will keep trying till some jury finds you guilty of something. Looking more like Idiocracy every day.

Prosecutors sucked. Just like OJ. If Zimmerman was a high profile person like a Hernandez they would have built a much better case. The state appointed prosecutors get paid regardless of the outcome and IMO don,t have a reason to care. I'm sure they thought there was no way they could have lost based on the actual facts, not the ones admissable in a jurors room. watch how many cases like this will come up now, knowing you can hunt someone, kill them, and walk. Ifeel bad for the jurors having to let that POS free.

Not sure if you know this but Zimmerman was far from a racist and up until he had to pull the trigger was a strong advocate for all. Do some research. Try the new AP story about how he helped get the chief suspended for covering up an officers sons beating of a homeless black man. Happened just last year

yes, apparently Holder is looking to goign after Zim for a federal crime. Folks, the lesson to learn here is to turn your back, ignore your neighbors and dont look for ways to protect others. We live in a society that rewards selfish, turn away behavior.
I believe Zimmerman was 100% responsible for Martin's death. But I do not believe he was guilty of a crime. There was a fight, we dont know who started it, we only know the outcome.

Talk about a slanted press. Our paper had a headline larger than I have ever seen,
Zimmerman Not Guilty including a story from AP along with a pic of Zimmerman smiling. During the whole trial, Zimmerman had a stone face, even when the verdict was read and afterwards. But somebody got a profile pic of him with a slight smile and they played it up big time.
The DOJ is pursuing the Fed charges even though it is reported the FBI has already investigated and come up with nothing.
Great way of "Never let a crisis go to waste", change the focus away from the unanswered Benghazi, IRS, Jobs, Obamacare debacle, Economy, etc.

Curious how many here have grabbed a bat and investigated a noise at their home? What would have happened if you actually had to confront someone ?
Me...
I caught someone in my garage office and held them at gun point until the police arrived. 2am on my little girls first night home.

How many have ever grabbed a bat and investigated someone walking down their street doing nothing?

Thats more to the point than somebody in your house.

or better yet, what would people do if they were walking down the street minding their own business and someone started following them around, hiding in the bushes...are they the type that would run away and avoid confrontation? Or would they go up to the guy and say "WTF are you following me around for?"

Would They confront him? They could end up being shot if they do.

Tragic event, both of them could have and should have handled it differently. Then we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Zimmerman wasn't randomly walking down the street .

Ya know the old cheap phones that you used to hear if someone was dialing another phone in the house? Well the bedroom phone started to make dialing noise at 2 am so I went out to the office to see what's up. I heard steps running and then noticed the closet light on. I tapped on the closet door with the gun and told whoever it was to stay put. I then sat at my desk and called the police who came and took some guy, who I later found out was from Florida , away. I told the dispatcher I would be at the desk and armed so I wouldn't end up a victim
