The secret to an IPA is the hop flavor/aroma profile. Same beer as an ale may be great but a screw up in the hopping to make it an IPA can ruin it. Too long on the hop boil and you get bitter instead of flavor. Very haqrd to get the right aroma without dry hopping or hop backing it.
I like a good hoppy IPA. One of the more refreshing beer varieties.
