Redlite, go with the Playstation thing. I dusted mine off after a two years of storage and fired her up just after Xmas. You can get used games at GameStop for like $1-$5 each.
Also, I have been hitting the gym hardcore. That passes the time on the cold evenings where normally you would be preparing to head out to fish. I have put on 10lbs this winter already.
Been finding %$%$%$%$ to put on Fleabay as well. It doesn't take much effort and you can make a few $$.
If nothing else, sleep while you can.

You don't have to make the kids yourself, just raise them. That will keep you busy.

I've been drinking heavily, too. But in my case, it's been the best winter in a long time.
Redlite, since you don't fish plugs, take up rod building. Build yourself a nice stick for next year.

Some great ideas floatin in....good to see how some of the regular posters pass the time.......I got all the rods and then some that I'll ever need (plus don't wanna take work away from my rod builder Backbeach)......1st graders know more about computers than I do........I've skied for the better part of my life, tried snowbaording 2 yrs ago and know that I am NOT a snow boarder, but the knees are pretty bad and skiin ain't so good for them.....been playing hockey 3 times a week though to keep the beer gut off.........I may give holdovers a shot, but I got to find a suitable reel that actually works..I'd take the wife away, but one of us has gotta work and make the money.....Grad school????Huh. Took me 5 yrs just to get the 1st degree.....I think I am just over all lacking motivation.....Looks like a nice day out today. Think I'll huff and puff and blow the snow tube and go hit the white hills for a while.......Maybe I'll shave that way I look like a 12 year old again......soccer moms beware.......

You are skating more than me! Three skates a week is great, most weeks I only get in 2. Cherish the time off as long as you can afford it. It all goes away when you have kids!

WOW!!!
Bored.
I am so GD busy it's crazy. Working about 60 hours a week. Been interviewing as I hate my boss. Heating completely with wood so I am hauling wheelbarrows of wood into the house twice a day. Shoveling the never ending snow. Installed a wood stove in the garage so I can keep the diesel tractor warm enough to start at -10 degrees. Taking the dogs out as my wife had an ACL repaired in her right knee 2 weeks ago and can't walk well enough yet. Bored. I WISH I was bored.

I always say if your in New England find a winter hobby embrace it! Last winter "renewed my spirit" for my winter hobby and this year is shaping up to be just as good! So far I feel like winter has just BEGUN...yet many are saying how long its been! just a matter of perception really.
One way or another get out there and enjoy the beauty on winter can offer!

Sit on your hand ontil it falls asleep then do the deed , stranger sex! Seriously, I find being a member of a fishing club helps, there is always something to do to help out in the off season, or go to the Rainbow Bend resort in Islamorada FL, where you get a 13' whaler along with your room..

ORRRRR could this be,,,,,,,,,,,,,
the beginning of THE Cup's
~~~~~~~~~~~~ Angler of the Year Curse~~~~~~~~~~~~
where life has KNOW meaning unless attached to a "SuperCow",
winter holdovers and ice fishing for the lesser species seems moot,
snowboarding/skiing/mountain resorting ~ALL~ of it pales by comparison,
so WON must be resigned to drowning in one's own beeers,
and chained to one's own fears of how do i top/repeat THAT????
or in the infamous lyrics of Dianna Ross and the Supremes,,,,,,,,,
,,,,,,,,,"when will i SEA her again?",,,,,,,,,and from the same song
,,,,,,,,,"will i have to suffer and cry the whole NIGHT thru?",,,,,,,,,
ahhhhh FAME, she IS a cruel and soul stealing BEEEOTCH!!!
This winter SUCKS but I have been super busy coaching my daughters B-ball team plus bringing my son to hockey and b-ball 3 times a week really helps take the edge off. The good thing is that work is super busy so that also east up time until fishing season.
I do have some winter projects I would like to finish but because of the busy schedule there may not be enough time to get it all done.
I think Redlight should write a book about the past fishing season.....I know I would read that book!! If you cant write a book create a blog!!
looking forward to ice fishing every weekend has been the ticket in my case, making sure gear is working, hooks are sharp. the fishing is half of it, making the food is the big thing for me. burn some calories thru out the day, and chow down. Plus if you get a few buddies to go with you it can be a pretty fun day out. Me, I enjoy being alone on a frozen pond with nobody bothering me, but I gotta be social on occasions, during the winter anyways.
take up jenns idea and go on some hikes... all you really need is a pair of nice hiking boots and some warm non cotton clothes and your good to go. we live in such a beautiful area... all it takes is really a drive to the berkshires or the appalacians or VT, NH... or the adirondacks... which is amazing this time of the year. being outdoors is prolly your best bet for getting rid of that cabin fever
