Andrew we have 4 of the nice krystal electric reels we use for bass fishing as well,they are great for reeling in the kite,but the wire is always on the floor,connected to the battery etc. The simplicity of an old fashion powerful reel along without the wires and cumbersome electric reel just seem so much easier. Not sure which way to go,long rod short rod,electric or manual. Will try em all again I guess just like it simple. Lost one kite last yr due to very strong winds so we replaced all the kite line with 80 pound braid vs the 65 which seems to be holding up. Any winds heavier than the 80 pound braid figure we should not be out there anyway.
