I wear the contact lens called multivue (near and far sighted) for 4 weeks straight without removing them, no problem.
I was always near sighted even up to this day. There was a time when the contacts I wore were strictly 100% near sighted prescription. With these I could see far and read very well. Years go by when the contacts prevented me from reading as before. However if I take out my contacts I could read with the naked eye perfectly. There is a membrane that is in your eye that is not as flexible at a certain age.
In conclusion if your in your under your early 40s' the nearsighted lasik correction will make you see far and near but after that you'll be needing reading glasses.
The example of my experience is similar to one with lasik.
Get other peoples experience and ask there age and if they need reading glasses
