I helped deliver a sporty from FL to Cap Cana in the Dominican in May and saw first hand how the real marlin mates rig a dredge. It's very time consuming and I videoed one of the top mates from south America rigging mullet and if I can find it I'll post it. They are very meticulous in their work. They all use at least one dredge and most use two at once. Of course these are the rock stars of the southern waters and the rigs they are fishing on are unreal.
I stayed for the practice day of fishing and saw first hand how they tease and pitch baits to marlin and sails. Very interesting and a great experience.
