JD, haven't really followed this thread, but in light of the election I would think the independents would be fine with it.
It's showing that the victors, who many independents voted for, are following through with making the economy and budget their priority.

There strategy is to let Americans know they are serious about taking action on their promises and not waiting.
Good, the sooner the better, if it's not already too late.

I really wish the economy and jobless problems were the priority 2 years ago, instead of all the time and work being spent on Health-care, which should have been way down the priority list compared to the work needed on the economy.

the dems are deeply split and constantly shift on the issue depending on what they can leverage politically and who they can most effectively demonize..... how are they being percieved by independents right now???? and now they're trying to use CHRISTMAS to leverage political muscle....just shameful! c'mon...use your "critical thinking skills"

the vitrioic class-warfare is stunning and the quality seen in third world nations "propoganda" and on MSNBC....certainly doesn't belong in a "civil" government where certain individuals...Obama, Palosi, Reid..... continually complain about incivility....

it wasn't long ago that the BUSH TAX CUTS "only benefitted the rich" and were meaningless to the middle class...suddenly they are the single most important thing that Obama, Pelosi, Reid and their minions can "GIVE" to the middle class in their great caring and mercy

well, that and unemployment, food stamps, heating assistance and illegal immigrants
put that one on the LONG list too

NY TIMES
Lawmakers Weigh Deal to Extend Tax Cuts for All
By DAVID M. HERSZENHORN
Published: December 4, 2010

WASHINGTON — The Senate on Saturday rejected President Obama’s (latest) proposal to let tax rates rise for the highest-income Americans, as Republicans held firm in their push to continue all of the expiring Bush-era tax cuts.

The White House and Congressional leaders are now discussing a deal to extend the reduced tax rates at all income levels, at least temporarily, perhaps for two years.

But with Senate Democrats and the White House badly splintered, and some (democrat) lawmakers increasingly angry at the idea of sustaining President George W. Bush’s economic policies, the prospects of a compromise remained uncertain.

notice in the same article...

President Obama’s proposal to let tax rates rise (you mean "raise taxes"?)
extend the reduced tax rates (feel very fortunate that you are currently paying "reduced taxes" )

unbelieveable

I like..." at least......temporarily.....perhaps " are you sure???...for "two years"...more or less...

damn OBSTRUCTIONISTS!
