Mike. When the weather breaks, head to Billington Sea Kayak in Plymouth. They have quite a selection of different manufacturers and they're right on the lake there so you can try several out. The trial part is probably one of the most important aspects. I have a 15' Ocean Kayak Prowler Trident and like it a lot. I let anyone that wants try mine out and the offer is extended to you as well.
You'll need to set a budget and figure what fits your needs for your price range. A big part of the expense comes when you start rigging them with all the extras.
