Thanks again everyone. Well, the news on the 4 Runner is good, nothing critical and its getting reparied now. At 180K miles and counting, hopefully I'll have her until 250K...
Professor M... I towed a 4,000lb travel trailer (plus contents) for nearly 20K miles all over the US in my 97 4 Runner. That includes over the mountains (10K feet) in Utah and Wyoming. It is a v6 and only 195HP, so I was thinking the Tacoma with the same rating, but bigger engine would handle my 18' boat no probs. I had no issues with that setup.
Anyway, when she goes it sounds like the Tacoma is a good option.
