If the spots (one inparticular) can fit 3-4 cars and it's not that straighforward to find, the majority of people will move on to somethng easier to access. The ones that make it past getting to the locations will bail if they don't catch immediately is my guess. The ones that fish when its convenient for them as opposed to the best time to fish, will call it quits too after a trip or two.

Early season feeding frenzy on shore that will subside when some have to walk >0.5m to a spot, it's cold out, it's drizzly, and they can't cast a chunk of bait within range of breaking fish. The article did not show any location that was not publicly known. If you have your Barnstable resident parking sticker, your way ahead of the game for the remainder of the season.

Cool

Hmmm.... then maybe you should also not subscribe to any newspapers with outdoor columms, give up frequenting local tackle shops and TV as well.

In the early 90's it would be nothing to see over a 100 guys casting ( mostly poorly at that) at SCB for blues in May. Talk about a spot that everyone knows about.

Lastly, there are no secret personal spots anymore and to get your panties in a bunch because of an article on of all things South Cape beach and bluefish is just a real waste of time.

This spot burning thing is such bull$hit, there are no secret spots.

Why even try.........

Every year, as the first of the migrants hit the shores, the "spot burning" discussions begin, just because "X" amount of people fish the "spot" doesnt mean they will catch well there, it's not just the spot, it's knowing how to fish it, and very, very few articles I have seen about "spots" REALY explain how to fish them correctly, do I like company when I fish... hell no, and most nights, I'll go somewhere else, it's a big coast line, and somewhere, I will find fish and be alone, once I find "my" fish , mum is the word... when two people know a secret, it's no longer a secret any longer....

and as far as posted reports go...most times they are not worth the paper they are printed on, they are a day late and a dollar short.. the ones REALLY in the know... arn't talking...

on that note, it's almost time for me to dissapear for the summer..hope everyone has a good season.

A good run is better than a bad stand!

It's definitely a losing battle. However, don't let anyone passify you that it's OK...it's NOT OK. It will continue to happen... True, there are no secret spots...but it doesn't make it right to post or print about not-so-common spots so that Tom, #^&#^&#^&#^& and Harry who don't really fish but want to go stick a rod somewhere with a campfire, loud radio and a keg to ruin it for the guys who quietly get in and out without a trace.

.....the only thing they really do is draw people to those spots during the day and most don't know what they are doing.....
That's more of a mouthful than you know. Yes, they draw people to these spots during the day...so yes, they're in plain view of the local residents..."most don't know what they are doing"....which to me equates to less educated in the etiquette of fishing, trash, improper parking, loud and obnoxious,etc?etc/....all things that will piss off residents who are the main reason why we lose access to our shorelines. A LOT of these magazines AND websites that give out spot information are looking for 2 things .... $$$$ AND RECOGNITION...which normally leads to $$$$....a LOT of these z-heroes who post about spots, or write articles about spots fall into the same category. I believe this to be true...as well as BS. It sux...we have to learn to live with it. EVERYONE has read about a spot that someone wrote about and tried it. We ARE ALL GUILTY. If you don't think you are.....you're lie-ing to yourself.

O=K....I'm done for now. ...time to regroup

...it finally happened, there are no more secret spots

NO one needs EXTRA stress these days....

it is the NUMBER one KILLER of all people

like when i realized listening to heavy metal or
hard rock and roll while driving would make me more
susceptible to road rage which now carries EXTREME
fines,penalties and even JAIL ...

I used to get so damn mad
i'd chase you down... not any more....

i just change over to MUSIC that makes me not care.

end of problem

Usually people don't have a problem burnig OK spots, rarely will you see people burning their own favorite spots.

Spots is a no-win situation, but it is sexy to talk spots and make coin.

Fact is, 99% of us have gotten tipped off to try a spot from a mag, or book, or a site.
