George your stuff looks perfect as always.
Can you give us some details on the darters? How much do they weigh and how big are they. I'm just finishing some up for my light rod but I want to make some in the 3.5-4 oz range for a heavier rod I am working on for next year...
Are those still the hard maple you were working with or did you switch to something else?

They are just Pichney/Lupo/BM copies. I've done well on the BM originals over the years. 7"long, 1.25" dia, 3.3-3.5 oz. Most are soft maple saturated in sealer, I've got some hard maple as well that I think will weigh 3.7oz. The original BMs are around 3.5 oz, the Pichney and Lupo's closer to 3. I think you want your sealed blank to weigh about 2.7.....though of course I didn't figure that out until way late. |
