I have a goldenrod in my gun safe and it works great.. As for feeding the wire, I fed it though a hole in the leg channel but I have a large safe, with a smaller safe you may need to drill a small hole to feed the power cable.

Sportsman,

Sorry for the late reply....been down & out for a while now. I picked up the golden rod and so far, it appears to be working fine. Keeps the case a little warmer and I now understand the method behind the madness. I've still got the silica thingy in there and noticed immediately that I'm not recharging it all the time now.
