How about the original "Lord of the Flies"?
Can we say "What if kids were in charge?"
The way they slipped from childhood into brutality was eerie.

How about Michael J Fox in "The Frighteners"?
Comical ghost/life after death flick. I thought the old gunslinger ghost humpin the mummy was priceless: ("I kind of like it when they just lie there like that.")

ichi the killer scared the crap out of me....

Hatchet from a year or so ago was "awsomely bad" throwback to those old slasher flicks i love so much.
