I don't like any kind of fishing that has to do with a Deby, Prize money or such. I fish for relaxation and to eliviate stress not to add to it.
Derbies also ensure crowds to certain areas. Maybe thats good for motel, cottage rentals, food, gas and tackle shops but nevertheless it just adds pressure to an already overstressed shore.
Lot's of fish get killed needlessly to capture a prize, albies in the MV derby were a good example, Striped bass are next in line.
