The best lighting that you can get is outside on a nice sunny day. If its sunny outside, just make sure the plug is framed the way you like it and make sure you don't cast shadows on your plug.

When I am indoors, I use white posterboard as a background and couple of 8 inch or 10 inch reflector lamps, from Homies, from the ends to try to eliminate any shadows. Turn the camera flash off and you're set to go. You don't have to use white, but try to use a light background.

My third choice is to use the camera flash indoors on white background, but get as far away from the plug as possible and zoom in. Getting far away will lessen the amount of flash glare that you'll get off the epoxied plug.
