I picked up a rod this fall for the same reasons...did a lot of thinking and ended up with a Lami MB 114 3F cut 3" from the tip.

It's a fast action glass blank with a soft tip. Not as graceful as the graphite but does just about everything well and wont get banged up on the rocks. It's also not a lightening rod.

Only fished it a few times, but so far I'm liking it. It's not an expensive blank either.

I've been fishing for 60 years and have never met a fisherman who couldn't use another rod........, or reel........, or......
