Why are accidents called accidents? Most acciedents are preventable to a point, but odds are there will be accidents. From what I heard it was a miscommunication between members of the party. The guy who got hit left to chase a wounded bird, and returned as the VP was swinging and aiming on a bird, the guy never let them know he was back in the line. Could it have been avoided, yes had the guy called out that he was back at the line, or had he been paying attention to what was going on, he could have stopped where he was, or moved. The press is making a big deal about it because the story went out in a local Texas paper first, and the bigshot White House Press Corp did not get it till later. I have been hit by shot before, it happens, granted I was 70 or 80 yards away in a duck blind.
