velvet eel

Tie on lead eyes to the hook Clouser-style. Cut a slit down each side of the head end of the velved to stick the eyes through, then tie the velvet off in front of the eyes. Cut a slight angle on the tail and glue it, as someone already replied. Get one already constructed from North Cove Outfitters in Old Saybrook, CT. Brian Owens, who works there, invented the pattern. I found that black seems to work best. Works nicely on Cape Cod. Has anyone used it much in CT?
