If you don't have pets or young kids, do what I just did--poison the bastages. Mix up some rat poison with some crushed peanuts.
When my wife lived in upstate NY, she had a groundhog that was eating its way thru her tomatoes. She tried the have-a-heart. Goes out the next morning and there's one very pissed off skunk in it. Got a cheap plastic rainsuit from K-Mart, used a 20' long pole and dropped the trap, skunk and all, in the pool. So yeah, those things don't float
Nothing else would ever go in that trap afterwards, of course, and it wound up in the dump.
