2 come to mind.... last year I was backcountry fishing off Key West with a guide. Things were kind of slow, then we put on live pin fish as bait and were tossing them very close up under the mangroves. Whatever it was grabbed it and spooled me as the guide was trying to get the anchor up. 30 lb. test. Never saw it.
Another was fishing chunk off the rocks in s. Maine on July 4th. Stripped my 30 lb down to a couple of winds and then paused. I tried to gain some back but it started moving again like I wasn't there.
Hated leaving my gear in both but like to think they tore it out in no time.
