I have Google mail which is a free and a great email proggy
and i also have Google notify which gives you an
instant heads up message bubble for each e-mail message that comes in...
(i copy pasted a robin song.wav for notify)
they have an Archive that is like 10 gigs or similar to archive e-mails that you wanna save...
I have INSTANT notification checked in personal preferences in MY user control panel at S-B
I generally post to most threads so i can follow them via Google mail without even being logged in or on / @ S-B
So if you delete something accidentally you can always search the archive by name date subject ect. as a back up plan.
