Custom Rod Info
Looking to have a custom rod built in the next couple of weeks and am looking for some info on what to have built.
Looking for a 9 footer that throws roughly 1-3 oz. or something close to that range. Any Suggestions??

I agree
Batson Rainshadow 1088
but if you want something lighter, get the 1087, it handles 1-3 oz and weighs very little.
The 1088 is a very versitile rod, 1-4 oz and has enough backbone. It will toss bombers to pikies to poppers. When I am hunting fish with a 9' rod, that is what I use.
The 1087 is great for smaller fish but can handle a big fish on the sand if you handle it right.

If you are looking for a go anywhere do everything kind of rod I would recommend a Lami SB1213M with a foot cut off of the butt.
It is heavier than a graphite rod but it is extremely versatile. I really like the way fiberglass and braid work together. The slower action of the fiberglass lets you throw lighter stuff ok (with a spinning reel) and you can still put 4 oz and a chunk on it if you want. Anyway, it is something else to think about.

you didnt specify casting or spinning, but i am assuming spin. also, you didnt specify what you plan on doing w/ the rod. w/o cutting a blank, the options suggested above could all work. other options include lami gsb1081m, csb1201m cut, xra1204 cut, gsb1201L cut...with cutting any blank, you void the manufacturers warranty typically. so a word of caution if you go down that route.

Spinning and used primarily for plugging.
Everybody seems high on the 1088's I may take a look at those. although the Breakage issue TLap mentioned is making me a little Cautious on those.

Remember the 1088 is a blank size/rating that is made by many different companies. This blank makes an excellent all around bass rod for the beach and rocks. Works well with plugs from 3/4 to 4 oz, best 1 to 3 oz. Also a good rod for eels. Rainshadow and AllStar are two of the companies that make this blank. You may also want to look at a 1088 Pac Bay blank. All three of these of companies make very good blanks at a good price. I have 3, 1088 Pac Bays and they have all served me well with no problems. I know many people who would say the same about Rainshadow and AllStar.
