Brining a skin
I have had a few very large skins brining for about 3 weeks. Is that enough time to use them?
Thanks

Paul - I know that most use the skins inside (blue side) out. I always had very good if not better results using them natural side out.

I like to give my skins at least 2-3 weeks in a brine, and be sure to stir them from time to time. The longer a skin stays in the brine the better the results and I have some in my fridge have been in there for more than a year. If the skin is not brined long enough it will fall apart faster. You'll know it's good to go when it feels like leather and loses that soft feel of a fresh skin.

Dennis - yes, I always use them inside out. - and store the plug in kosher salt.
Toby - I put them in with some others that have been in the brine for 3 -4 years. Those older ones still looked fine. They are just much smaller than the ones I recently got.
