Worth Rebuilding?
I have a handful of older rods, mostly (if not all) conventional boat rods. These are rods I've accumulated from relatives, friends, tag sales, etc. Some I bought because I wanted the reel and the guy wanted to sell both.
Anyway, guides are rusted or broken, but for the most part the rod blanks seem decent. Any reason not to cut off old guides and rebuild? Assuming the blanks look in good condition, they should still make for decent rods, right?

Yeah depending on amount of work involved and stripping, it's probably worth it.
If you don't feel like doing it, CMS does great repair work for reasonable price

I'm always rebuilding older boat rods. The things are built pretty solid and fun to practice ideas on as they are heavier than most so you can go crazy if you want to play with thread art during the winter. Go for it. I usually just update or upgrade the guides.

Hookedagain, lemme try one of my own first before I work on someone else's. Never done it before, which is why I kinda figured I'd practice with these old boat rods. No point in starting with a high end surfcasting blank

Did my 1st guide repair 2 weeks ago came out great had issues getting the thread up on the guide foot . I read I need to file the guide foot more .. I have no plans on rod building just fixing my stuff

Redoing older rods is a fine way to keep cold winters busy.
It takes allot more time and effort to redo an old rod. But if you are doing it just for you and time doesn't matter then go for it.
When I started building my own rods that is exactly what I did before starting from scratch. Stripped down allot of my older rods and rewrapped the guides.
