				New canal surf rod

I am looking at getting a new surf rod for fishing the cape cod canal. I am getting a pole built and im not sure whether to get a fiber star composite 11' 1-5oz or a CTS vapor trail 11' 3-6oz. If anyone has any knowledge about these poles or has used one i would love to know the prons and cons and which is an overall better rod. Suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated.

Jigging, or plugging? Spinning or conventional? What weight plugs/jigs do you like to throw?

CTS vapor trail 11' 3-6oz has been my go to rod for the last 2 seasons. I throw 1.5oz thru 4oz and for me the sweet spot is 2-3.5oz. rod is very light and fights fish extremly well- best fish so far is 40# in canal on a running tide.

Is it a good rod for casting long distances? And does it have good backbone? Can you throw jigs on it?

josh- where do you live? maybe we can get together and you can cast mine. throws plugs VERY far, as i said it has the sack to land a 40# in the canal with tide running hard. i've never jigged with it.

1328 is hard to beat, only reason I went custom was due to reel seat placement, the factory was a little short for my arms. I paired it with a saltiga 4500z and I can throw it all night without any fatigue.

I use it for pretty much everything at the canal. absolutely launches all of the long distance pencils out there, throws an sp minnow very well for what it is and can handle most jigging applications. also make a great rod for magic swimmers.

I think im going with the century ss 1327. do you have any experience with it. I heard the 1328 is a stiff rod and not good for plugs and poppers, is that true
?

Josh where are you located? I have a 1327 and 1328. I can let you try them.Edit, saw your in Bellingham, if you want to meet up somewhere let me know. You can't go wrong with either the Century, CTS or others mentioned. There's many other rods that have years of proven experience down there. You need to find the type that fits your style.

1328 has a softer tip in it allowing it to throw the lighter stuff a little easier. The 1327 is the stiffer blankm

There are a couple of different Fiberstar Composite rods to look at the Predator and Marauder would both work well. The current stock Marauder was setup as a rod for fishig the rocks in Montauk or that type of environment. Strong stick that can cast 1- 1 1/2 oz bucktails well and can handle throwing up to 5 oz hard, great for tossing an eel without ripping its lips off. Its like an upgraded GSB. The Predator is a faster action, mod- fast not fast really. Pretty light weight blanks with plenty of backbone. There's a 10'6 and 11'6 that would work for the type of stuff you throw.

You can't go wrong with either the Century, CTS or others mentioned. There's many other rods that have years of proven experience down there. You need to find the type that fits your style.

I fish just about everything with it, works a pencil just fine, poppers the same. Before this rod I used a 1321L lami gsb and was worried I would hate working a pencil with the 1328 but no major issues. doesn't work it as well but get's the job done and then some
