				Finally getting started

Well, finally have had time to get into my shed. Between my daughter's swimming, other daughters soccer, work, and hunting i didnt think i would ever make it back out there. I picked up a Vega duplicator a few months back and Paul hooked me up with a carbide bit and holder.
This morning i decided to work on my 7" Danny. I had one i made last year, but it was very sensitive. So, as you can see by one of the pics, i moved the weight and rear hook forward to see how that works.

I will drill, seal, and rig one to see how it swims. Hopefully a winner! The black plug on the left is a 8" Danny i was also working on making.

well, while I had the template in, I turned 3 from WRC.

I am in the Philadelphia area, so I am curious how much different is the action in Freshwater than salt as I test these locally? I imagine it will float higher in Salt, but will it impact action too?

Thanks

Theoretically yes, but practically probably not as much as I thought (if my math is right).

Sea water around here weighs about 64 lbs/cubic foot and freshwater 62.2 lbs. If you float a 2 oz surface swimmer in freshwater that displaces 1 oz of water (ie the plug is 1/2 submerged) it has displaced 28.4 grams of water. In order for it to displace a similar amount of heavier sea water and float 1/2 way down it needs to displace 29.2 grams (28.4/62.2 = 29.2/64) so your plug needs to be 1 gram heavier to float the same. That is not much but if it worries you use a slightly heavier belly weight or hooks in salt.

What lip are you using in the plug?

That is really interesting. I am using a #2Lefty and probably 3/0 hooks or 2/0 hooks and a flag. My weight is .27

Try a pikie 3... that will give you what you're looking for I bet
And try increasing the weight too.

In a 7" Danny the weight is usually around .5 if my memory serves....

Well, I will have to wait until after christmas for the pikie #3 lips and .50 weights (along with the rest of my wish list.) For now, I finished up 2 bodies, one from WRC and one from Pine. I still need to add the flag, and then test the two to see if the movement improved.

The blind one is WRC
