D NUTS on the Tour De France this morning
One of the annoucers, it wasn't Bobke, but the other guy was going on about Dennis Zabriskie. Kept talking about what a hard charger he is; always willing to work for the team. Then he goes on to speak of him as a businessman as well. He states that Dennis invented a cream that compliments the leather padding that the racers wear on thier bodies to ward off some of the evidently terrible jock rash that the racers get. The cream is called D NUTS. And with the slightest of chuckles from the guys in the booth they moved on to what was happening in the race, which just happened to be a crash where the course narrowed.
I wonder of we canal bikers could make use of D NUTS.

It's actually called dznuts.
Very important when wearing proper bike shorts to have some lube. I'd really worry about being lubed up down there knowing some of the people who frequent the canal

Canal bikes may need it more then the average road biker. You guys tend to sit upright putting ALL your weight on the bike seat. Then there's the dampness from leaky waders. You're just asking for saddle sores...

By the way---the guy's name is Dave Zabriskie, not Dennis. 
And if Assos cream is priced like their clothing, that jar costs $50.
I've ridden 100+ miles without it. I tried some cheaper chamois cream. I don't find it necessary. |

Seriously.
Road cyclists, like many sub-cultures, have their odd or unusual elements and tendencies...
Like Mike I've never really found a need for DZ Nuts if you fit your bike well. I can ride solid carbon fiber seat with no padding without any issues.

I don't thik bike fit has anything to do with it, unless it's really poor. More a factor of friction and irritation.
I pro is riding 500+ miles a week so I'd assume their body is constantly fighting friction and a sore would impact performance. I'd think their fit is usually good.
Being a bigger guy even with a good fit and top end bibs I rub a lot...I'll apply for even a short ride, it's just all part of the ritual.
