Japan rod site
Thought some of you might find this interesting.
English version of a Japanese Rod sight.
Notice that all the stripper guides are placed backwards. And not with just the LR guides, but with all the different guide series. Kind of makes you go Hmmmmm. Do they know something we don't????
Some of the plugs and jigs these guys cast with are heavy, (6,8, 10 ounces.) Would like to know what blanks these are.
Also notice the price of these rods. $450 to $1000.

The japenese charge WAY to much for their gear. I think that a retail shop works on a 300% margin because of the ridiculous high costs of doing business....

I thought i posted a reply to this but i guess not.
the idea of reversing the gathering guide is not new. tournament casting rods often have the first guide put on "backwards" to eliminate the two v grooves where the feet join the ring where line can get stuck.

I posted a response as well, now it's gone?
AS for Japanese charging to much for tackle - why shouldn't they? They can afford it, and they do have much better products than what they send to us over here. Speaking specifically about Shimano and Fuji, as well as Diawa.
Do you know they do not use HArdaloy guides there, only SIC. And there are a LOT of factory rods with Titanium SIC. Alconite, is only made for the US market, the don't sell those over there either.
Reels - when a reel first comes out there, it has all top quality materials - specifically bearings. 3-4 years later, when the reels are finally available here, they put cheaper bearings in them.
Take a look at some of their competiton Spinning reels, as well as teh 3 or 4 versions of the Stella they have.
