Uffah a gut shot can happen and its still a dead deer in the freezer that was not waisted. I know lots of lung shots so they say that never get found so if a gut shot is what it takes then maybe you should try it. I have only lost 1 deer in 15 years of bow hunting and know it was a good hit but lost him do to my own stupidity at the time as I did not leave it alone long enough and pushed him to soon and lost him to a swamp. I am not going to say all my shots have been heart or lung shots because sh#t does happen. How ever I do not give up on a deer that I know was hit be it mine or a freinds and have found many that others had given up on. Find me a hunter that has never had a bad hit and I will show you some one that has never shot. A gut shot deer will ALWAYS die they do not make it no matter how much you tell your self it will. The thing is to let them be and you WILL find them the next morning or later in the day if hit in the am. I know of two gut shot deer that did not go 100 yards this past week that six point being one of them. It is some times more important what you do after the shot then the shot its self. I am not saying its ok to make a off target shot but it does happen and it is then more important what you see and do after the hit. This is were most get in trouble and loose their deer.
