OTW Article

Joe, I found your article in the recent OTW informative and well written, however I just wasn't getting the part about using caution when fishing the attracter on the dropper and the lure and removing the hook from a fish. Could you explain that part again?

Hey Jimbo -
I'm glad you liked the article.
The safety concern when using a teaser/dropper, comes into play when you get a fish on the primary lure.
Often times, after a catching a fish, people will kneel down on the beach with the rod on their shoulder - to either lip or remove the lure from the fish.
If you are not careful, you can end up sticking your face into the teaser hook as it is very close to your head when you go to deal with a caught fish.
It's easy yo forget that it's there, particularly if you are excited about your catch.
It sounds silly but this type of accident happens a lot.

I gotcha now, and yes, on a dark night or excited over a catch I could definitely see it happening if you weren't paying attention..
