 ESPN Films: Unguarded - ESPN
highly recommend watching...

this guy had it all... remember both him and his older brother's runs at durfee high... the coach at Nauset always talked these guys up back then. Basketball Junkie a good read on this too...

watch for a rerun or do it on demand, if you have not already seen this.

a good cautionary tale, on the demands on some of these talented kids, and how easy a fall from grace can be. Chris is brutally honest. |

				 | I can remember reading Bill Reynold's pieces about him in the Pro-Jo, years ago - calling attention to his drug use. I haven't read the book, but I found the pieces in the paper too revealing. He was labeled very young and very publicly as drug user. I didn't think it was ethical journalism. To label and exploit someone at that age, it almost always becomes self fulfilling. Reynolds has gotten a lot of copy over the years on that kid and now the book, Basketball Junkie.

We've got institutional corruption just coming to light now. It didn't just start yesterday. Where has the press been?

				 | have you seen it yet Joe?... Bill is in the film too... the comment in the film.. "as long as you were winning, this kind of behaviour was tolerated"...even at the high school level...very telling... and unfortunately, rings true.if you have not seen it, I think you should, and most likely will think it was worth a look.

				 | No, I have not seen it. The administrators and coaches who tolerate just about anything if it means winning - that's the more important issue. If that's the point of the story, then great. Too bad its too late.
Now we've learned the education establishment can't be trusted. A nation can rise or fall on the collective integrity of its institutions. A free press is supposed to monitor our institutions, rather than wait until they 'break' and then do a postmortem analysis.

				 | I saw it and was impressed with how he was brutally honest. Hope he doesn't relapse. |
