The Turkey Day Menu?

Curious what, traditionally, you folks have on the menu?? Is it always the same...tradition??

We have the following:

23 pound bird stuffed

Red Bliss mashed potatoes (Usually use Yukon Gold but change this year) They is good like this.....add cream cheese, sour cream, butter and milk......artery cloggin' good!

Peas, carrots, pearl onions, stuffing, cranberry sauce.

Last but not least....my Dad's famous gravy....if I can pull it off!

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

Always Turkey, Sausage Stuffing, Mashed Taters, Peas, Cranberry Sauce, Rolls. After that anything else anybody else wants to bring. I'm making some home made biscuits this year.

Always Pies and Ice cream for Breakfast.....the Kids love it because its the only day of the year they can have Ice cream for Breakfast.

I'll make an Apple Pie and a Blueberry Pie, My daughter will make a Chocolate Decadence pie and my son is making a pumpkin Cheesecake pie this year.

then....I go into a coma in front of the TV for football

Let's see...turkey, stuffing, taters (sweet & mashed), corn, spinach, squash, cranberry sauce, rolls, gravy, apple pie, cheesecake, brownies, apple cider (not that clear crap, but the cloudy good stuff).
All the family that can make it, and hopefully something good and wholesome on the tube, otherwise we break out some classic dvd's.

Of course there are the perennial turkey-day football favorites - Dallas and Detroit (yaawn).

What's on the menu?

I'm keeping it real SIMPLE this year.

Turkey breast instead of a whole bird.
Stove Top with a little chourico and sausage added.
Roasted garlic potatoes.
Frozen veggies(green giant baby medley).
Heinz gravy.
Forgot to put cranberry sauce!

The only from scratch item is the apple pie.

All washed down with Harpoon UFO Pale Ale.

What's everybody chowing down on?

Btw Portsmouth is gonna bury Middletown!

We're sitting down at 4:30 for supper.

When Jane gets back from the nursing home after dinner with her mother its apple pie from scratch!!!

We may even blaze up the firepit when we get home. Its the one thing we can do as a couple.

Enjoy your evening BF.

Here's an inside look at my Portagee Thanksgiving Tradition...(not your normal Turkey-Day foods)

Salad w/assorted dressings available
Caesar Salad
Portagee Soup
Minced Kale Soup w/mashed potatoes mixed in as a thickening agent
Assorted Fruits and finger snacks

Roasted Octopus w/Sauce,
Shrimp Mozambique,
Scallop Casserole,
Pork & Little Necks,
Quail,
Ham w/pineapple slices,
Striped-Bass Casserole,
...and 2 Turkeys, (somebody must like necks because they were on the platter just before saying Grace, but disappeared sometime during dinner)..

Portagee stuffing as well as a Ritz cracka based stuffing,
Mashed Sweet Potatoes w/marshmellows
Mashed Red Bliss Potatoes
Roasted Potatoes & Yams
Corn
Mixed Vegetable Medley
Cranberry Sauce
Rice
Home-made Pickled Onions, Peppers and Cauliflower
Green & Black Olives

Pumpkin Pie(s)
Apple Pie(s)
Pecan Pie(s)
Blueberry Pie
Numerous Cakes
Numerous Portagee finger snacks (don't ask me to name them all please)
Portagee Sweet Rice

Home Made WINE
..more WINE...zzzzzzzzzzz......and then a little more WINE

Believe it or not, there's more, as the buffet table was HUGE!! there was stuff there that I didn't touch because I couldn't identify it.

Our Thanksgiving Party lasts well into the weekend.

I got a cup of tea brewing right now, need to find something to deflate the belly....What gluttons we can be.

It was a peaceful day spent with lots of family, reminiscing about old times. We have A LOT to be thankful for. I hope we all took a moment of silence to ourselves to thank our Creator for all we have.

...it finally happened, there are no more secret spots

It's not at my house, I have the luxury of just showing up with a dish....

Got the word this morning that we gather again at 6PM tonight.

Couple of different people showing up today which means a couple of new dishes.
