Its a fish eat fish world we live in.

First time out there for cod, it was ok got a couple nice fish, realy not my style and I expected to catch more. Some guys who got there wicked early got the back of the boat and did better.
Watching them pull this skate out of the monks belly made it worth while, I bugged out. The skate had a 20" wing span but the monks mouth was about 14"... not a very big monk. Can picture a skate that size stuggling inside the monks belly it hadn't been in its stomack for to long when it decided to have clam for desert. |

				 | I remember watching a fishing show where the guys had a center console with a fighting chair on the bow. They pulled up to some pilings and the guy on the bow threw a giant hook baited with a skate or a ray that had to have been 20#. Bam.He hooks up and the boat reverses out and the guy's fighting a 400# Jewfish. Pretty impressive. One day at the Block the wind was too much and we went to the channel with some squid. A few minutes in we're on. Drags ripping, current is strong. What is it? 20# skates. |

				 | I have seen a few.Rare. Few and far between.
 They do taste good.
AND they can crush the hell out of a beer can if you stick one in it's mouth.
Quite a few years since I've seen one.
 Just eat it.
 I would.
