Real Tree? Fake Tree?

Just curious what you all have? I grew up with a fake tree...it was all I knew so it was good! Once I had my first real tree.....that was it! Despite the mess before and after its all worth it!! I will never go back to a fake tree!!

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

Real is the way to go. I have to get one tomorrow morning.
A guy I work with is into Christmas trees for a grand this year!
His wife typically buys at least two real trees every year. This year being no exception to that rule. Then she decided that she wanted to get two nice artificial trees instead. They looked around and didn't quite find what she was looking for. He went to work the other night and came home in the morning to two new artificials all set up. very nice. he asked her what they cost him. $400 a piece!!!!!!!! And she bought two at that price and gave away the two real trees he bought previously.

The future ain't what it used to be. --Yogi Berra

After 35 years in double harness, we're gonna go fake. Had some real nice real trees over those years, but at 50-60 bucks a copy and awesome fake will pay for itself in neatness and cash. When or if Grandchildren come, then it'll be back to real.

We had to watch Toe( short fot Toto, let my daughter name him and she thought she was Dorothy) too. As soon as he assumed the tripod stance we'd have to yell and get him out the door.

I've had real, ever since I was a kid and for the first 11 years being married. Bought a really high quality fake in 2004 and never looked back. Will probably never go real again. To much mess and a pain to get in and out.

I've got a good pre-lit fake tree. Easy to decorate and looks great. My wife bought room spray that smells like a real tree, so we spray that every so often to get the real tree experience.

Thumbs up

I grew up w/ the fake tree thing,I swoar I would go with only real in my own place.
Well the wife & I went w/ real trees for 4 yrs.we were lucky,a friend of ours owned a tree farm so the trees only cost a 12 pak

Our house had forced hot air for heating w/ no humidifier,so once that poor tree got in our house it was needleless in about 2 weeks, not to mention a fire hazard,it looked nice but what a mess.So we've been faking it for 8yrs.

Now that we bought a newer, bigger & better house (with forced hot water) I'll bet next year we will go back to the real thing
I think real is the true way to go plus it smells good too.

If you have the choice in the matter I'd go w/ real.

Live bait sharp hooks and timing is all you need

If you ever watched that video of how fast a real tree on fire became a fully involved living room fire, you'd never want another piece of sap-laden drying out tinder in your living room. It took less than 30 seconds for the living room to flash over.

My wife insists on real trees. In return, I insist on the following: it goes up on Christmas Eve and it comes down New Years' Day.

Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools, because they have to say something.

Karl.....I enjoy Christmas Eve the best! Have family and a few good friends stop by for a bite and some cheer! I have my kids this year on Christmas Eve for the first time in a few years....and they are not getting any younger....oh sure they don't believe in Santa anymore at 14 and 15.....but it makes it that much nicer making things special for them! I don't care about presents and shopping and all that.....the best part is Christmas Eve after everyone is gone....fire going, put in Its a Wonderful Life and just kick back! Christmas Day we will stay home, just Angie and the boys and myself.....cook a turkey dinner and not go anywhere! Started a new tradition last year....no more making the run to my Mom's for a day of the same old thing and all the crap! Just staying in my own home and relaxing!

SQD....post a pic of that tree will you? Also look for a new ornament very soon!

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

Real... but they really are a pain in the arse! A fake would be so much easier.

When we were little we always had fake trees. Ever since I was married we have had real ones. This year we bought a fake at Namco. It was a 500 tree, on sale for 250. It will pay for itself in 5 years, and with the high cost of gas, heating oil etc., you have start saving somewhere.

When I was a kid I remember the rotating game of fake an real. Had a fake one for last 4 years and have no problems with it, I will prob. go back to real one day just not today. Cleanup on the real is not fun at all.

We had fake for most of my childhood life...but eventually talked our parents into the reel deal. Yes, it definately made a mess...and living on the 2nd floor just made that mess even bigger ...but I liked the fact that it was real...and smelled nice. Funny thing, the year that I moved out...my parents went right back to the ol' fake one that had been stored for all those years.

When I got married we had "the Christmas tree discussion". I said I wanted nothing but the real thing. Finally having my own home, I always had visions of a nice REAL 9 - 10 footer all perty and all....we shopped for one ......but - - (I lost) - We have a FAKE pre-lit tree, looks OK, but the feelings gone...she uses those "plug-in" air fresheners with the Pine scent...yeah, smells Christmassy...but ....

Question on these pre-lit trees...???
The first one we brought home had a cord of dead lights. We returned it and got another one. ...but.....what's the life expectency on the lights it comes with and what do you do aside from unstringing that particular line of lights and replacing it? There was a"Hot Line" phone number on the box, but this isn't rocket science, I imagine all I can do is replace the lights after unweaving the damn thing....

Oh wait !!! .....it's HER treeeee, she can worry about .........I'll keep worrying about the important things during the holiday season

...it finally happened, there are no more secret spots
