According to the 2020 National Law Enforcement Officers Fatalities Report, out of the 264 police officers killed in the line of duty in 2020, the second highest cause of death was firearms-related fatalities, where 48 officers were killed in the line of duty – and 7 out of those 48 being officers responding to domestic violence calls.
