you left out the very next sentence...

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights"

Safe to say that by man's "creator", they meant God?

So the first 2 sentences of the Declaration each make reference to God. We've come a long way from that, to the DNC platform...
