Rob,I don't know how long the motor sat but it sounds to me like bad gas and/or a gummed up carb. I think you should do a complete tune-up and rebuild the carb.
Do you have a fuel filter/water separator?
If so, change the filter. If not, put one on. Ethanol is notorious for "gathering" water.
