I wouldn't.
If you're installing real tile(ceramic,marble etc.):
Remove ALL adhesive.A good quality heat gun will soften vinyl tile adhesive.Some chemicals like lacquer thinner will soften some glues.(ventilation either way!)
Etch it with muriatic acid and you're ready to go.Check for level and use floor leveler as needed.
