Earning the Medal of Honor comes with a hard price. Posthumously, you have made the ultimate sacrafice, giving your life so that others may live. Whether it is posthumously or not, the decision you make in the field at that moment is not for the glory of your country but for the love of the men around you, your brothers in arms, for thier safety you make a concientous decision to forego your own safety and make the choice that you would rather die than see them in killed or maimed. That is a decision that only a true hero could make. A Medal of Honor winner must be saluted by all who encounter him/her, no matter if you are a private or a general. There is only one other honor that calls for that beside being decorated with this medal and that is The Gold Star Mother, a Gold Star Mother is a mother who has had a child killed in the service of thier country. My mother is one and when she wears the white soft cap of the Gold Star Mothers at any event involving any military personnel they always stop in thier tracks and smartly go to attention and salute as she goes by. That little gold star is her Medal of Honor.

Why even try.........
