James Joyce--A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man
Franz Kafka--all his short stuff.
Herm Melville--Bartleby and Benito Cereno.
Anton Chekhov--one of the greatest short story writers ever.
Fitzgerald--The Great Gatsby, and many short stories.
Raymond Carver---American master.
Albert Camus--the plague and the Stranger.
Flannery O'Connor--American master.
Edgar Allen Poe---one of my favorites.
