A couple things. First off, according to the manufacturers you want the belly hook to point forward and the tail to point back. I will echo this recommendation. Second, I have found they work much, much better on solid hanger lures as opposed to swivel hangers and won't even consider them on swivel hangers. Third, I have seen people find success by doing exactly the opposite to what I have said here so your results may vary.

Here is a chart from Owner for upgrading from trebles to singled in-line from when I did some research on the last year.
