No sense spending the $$ on a Sorby Steb center. The PSI knock offs are fine. I made that mistake and wish I hadn't. 1/2" center is great for small birch for needles.

Float the undrilled plug blank to determine which is the heavy side. Mark the upside and drill the opposite for your belly hook. Help keep the plug from rolling if not orientated properly.

How much is the 8 inch unit? I would think for the lousy $125 you would get all the capacity available. You may never plane 10" stock but you may get into stuff that is over 8."
