New NIC

I even went so far as to buy a USB NIC interface. It loaded right up, connected at 400 rather then the normal 100 Mbps but still would not initiate the TCP/IP.

Two Day Headache

A laptop has internal problems relating to high end editing and games. Mainly heat.

I would recommend nothing less than a Pentium 2 GHz or higher with 512 Megs of RAM and a Video card with nothing...
