Definitely, stay with a lighter wood with spooks, my preference is cedar but pine, basswood etc... would work as well. Personally, i like my spooks tail weighted so that they sit about 15-45 degrees...

All Set for Plugfest

Heres some stuff I've finished I'll be displaying at plugfest. I'll have a few canal specials to trade. First some Flaptails, spooks and a couple juniors and a small danny.

If anyone is interested I can bring my grinder with wolverine sharpening jigs for sharpening lathe chisels. And anyone can bring their dull tools and give sharpening a shot. It's a pretty easy system...

I'm looking forward to Plugfest and I'll have plugs done this year. I've done 3 batches of epoxy so far and about to do a fourth in a few minutes. Hopefully, I'll be able to finish a bunch up in time...
