Anyone use basswood for making saltwater surface plugs? I know it doesn't have the natural oils that make cedar an obvious choice, and it's kinda fuzzy when you machine it, but if I seal the piss out...

After painting, stripping and repainting this thing twice, then having the epoxy set up on me before I was finished, I finally got it half way presentable. My wife couldn't care less so...

Here's how I've done it without any problems:

Seal, foil, epoxy, lightly sand, paint, epoxy topcoat.

If you don't epoxy over the foil you will see the seams when you paint. Also the epoxy...
