2 days live bait no bass
1 Attachment(s)
Last 2 days I have been live lining pogies from the Yak completely Unmolested :fury:
PS check out the bait bridle have down sized the hook to a 6\0 |
that sucks man! switch up your spots I guess - if a bass is around you gotta think it's gonna hit a live pogie
|
Hope they're more interested in plugs! Kickin' off the season on Wed., can't wait!!

Chunking will produce a small fish at best where he is fishing. The fish are not there yet. I had a 45# fish last year today on Cohens boat. The fish are simply not here yet. It's our back yard. There is bait and no fish besides very small holdies. The bait showed on time but not the bass. Keep snagging there will be some very large fish any day.

And if you are gona use a bridle the should be through the top of the eyes with the hook tight to the top of the baits forehead directly between the eyes

Thanks for the suggestions I went with the bridle to avoid gut hooking I was using a treble Hook in the nose and seeing I am a CR guy 98% of the time I tried a circle hook thru the nose but the hook would turn into the bait. next time out Ill move the bridle above the top of the eyes still experimenting. Cohen I agree on making the pogie stand out i never fish in the schools i'll snag what i need and move off or occasionally slowly reel a struggling bunker from the school to attempt to motivate a bass into eating

You can also cut a few inches from the tail and send it to the bottom with a small egg sinker and a big circle hook.

I just got back from live lining. Had 2 fish in the high teens and several chases. Dropped one that was probably mid-20s.
The trick was to move off the pogy schools and fish the edges. BTW, you can do what you want but I have caught thousands of bass on live pogies. I always hook the pogy through the nose. I don't know what that thing is you have on the pogy. |
What time of day? I've found the best time is first light if you can do it.
