getting jipped at the supermarket
I hate it when you look at the receipt from the market when you get home and something you bought that was on sale...... like a roast... didn't ring up as the sale price..... and the deal you thought you got didn't happen....you paid like 8-10 bux more :fury:
This happens a lot! I never bother to get my money back....I'm going to start though. Does this tick anyone else off??? I think I'm officially old... |
Yup, if you want some solid advice and its work for me time and time again
A stromgly worded email with terms like class action lawsuit to there customer service, or if they have a facebook page start spamming it with what happened you will be amazed how fast they respond. If you think im joking ask Buzz what happen with Pepboys and me, not only did i get compensated, i was re embursed and the manager was fired! Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
When that has happened to me I've taken the receipt back and shown them. Never had a problem.
When you didn't get your $ back, what did they say? You can always return the item. |

Pretty sure that store policy at stop and shop is that if an item is marked as on sale, and it doesn't ring up as the sale price, you get it for free. It's happened to me at least three times- the last time a girl tried to change the price to the sale price, I called her out on it, then she gave it to me for free...
Just have to watch for it, and call it out as it happens. |
I've usually found that just pointing out the mistake is all most retailers need to correct.

you didn't mention whether or not you had a store card
that was pre-scanned which gives you store membership discounts.... maybe you were in a hurry.... you can also add it up as you go ....so you have an IDEA what your total might be.... |
My wife is the queen of this stuff. She can spot a hose job from a mile away. When it does slip through she brings it right back

You know you could walk in calmly and just show them the receipt and say you think there was a mistake made 1st....sometimes that works....

Is the problem the dozens of customer service people you deal with....or the Customer? That seems tlike the common denominator. :hihi:
If you talk to people calmly from the get go...less likely they are going to spit in your coffee....Just Saying |

it's not just the stores
it's the manufacturers of products too by shrinking the contents in weight but keeping the box it comes in the same size so many items you open to find them only 2/3 rds full |

Ditto here as well. My wife stands and watches as each item rings up and stops them in there tracks. We do coupons all the time and save a pile of do, re, me.........They aren't too happy to do it sometimes, because of all the customers standing around. They especially don't want you to return meat, because they have to throw it away, so they will refund you on the spot. My wife rarely ever buys anything not on sale, and then dumps a coupon on top of it to really get a deal. Remember, an on sale item + a coupon=priceless. |
Most times we are in a rush to get in and get out, and we don't really bother to check the receipt. If I'm buying meats or higher-than-average priced items, I WILL check before I leave.
Most stores do want a happy customer, but the few that don't really stand out as "shop at your own risk" retailers. Also keep in mind, as with Stop & Shop and Shaws, that if they are dealing with labor disputes the errors can become much more commonplace. (Think disgruntled employee) |
I'm not sure if I've ever been jipped because I don't really check the receipt that closely, but I can say I've been jipped by baggers who don't seem to give a crap as they slam stuff in the bag and you get home with dented cans, crushed vegetables, chips, cookies, bread. Not too long ago had a dozen eggs the bagboy was sent back with because they didn't have a price scan bar. I didn't check when he returned but got home to find three cracked eggs. I always took the opportunity to bag for myself if noone was there, but from then on I politely insist on bagging my own stuff. It does seem to tick off alot of baggers when I say that I just can't accept paying to have damaged food items.

I do a majority of cooking and shopping in our house. At Stop and Shop I use the scan gun and bag myself as I go. This goes faster, I can see the tally and price, and stay on budget.. works great for the weekly shopping... Any issues you just don't ring it and explain to them it came up as the wrong price or something. I have never had an issue with them jipping me... other than the slow steady price increases across the board... |
For some reason I have this image of Bryan pretending he's a Star Trek extra and trying to stun old Portuguese ladies arguing over woody string beans in aisle 9.

He has a video live feed from the store to home while simultaneously talking to misses as she selects what to buy.

when returning
don't forget your extra.... ________. (fill in the blank) |
You guys can stick to your methods and i will stick to mine. I have enjoyed paying $15 a month for my sprint phone with unlimited everything for over 3 yrs now.
But its going to go up soon cause of the data plan required with these smart phones, but i guess i can stomach $50 after taxes for unlimted everything with sprint. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
