Just wait to after the election

Obama caught on an open mike, sitting down with Russian Dimitry Medvedev
said he would be "more flexible" after the November election.
"On all these issues, but particulary missel defense...this can be solved,
but give me space", Obama said.

More of his transparency ?

spence 03-26-2012 05:52 PM

I'm not sure what the big deal is...it's like...I'm willing to negotiate but don't pressure me before the election, I've got a lot on my plate.

What exactly is the problem here?

Like, I can't give you what you want now, might loose some votes, but
wait till I get re-elcted. Votes are the most important thing.

Do you not think that every politician ever elected has not done exactly the same thing?

Prioritization isnt a bad thing.

His priority as President should be looking out for and doing the best
thing for the country, not getting votes and giving Putin a wink.

The big deal is that everything that might need to be debated by the citizens of this country that might cost votes is put on ignore until after the election.

The problem is that he is putting his business and his party's before the people's business.

Spence, come on, thsi is a stretch, even for you. If a Republican was caught on camera saying "look, everything is on hold for the next 8 months so that I can get re-elected, then I'll get back to looking after the needs of the nation", would you really say "prioritization is not a bad thing?"

This clown really knows how to put his foot in his mouth when he doen't know anyone's listening.

Also, I agree with Obama, after the election he will have a lot more flexibility, but not for the reasons he thinks. I think he's going to have a lot more free time after this election...

I don't know what could any one have an issue with? Maybe because he will have the freedom to do things he otherwise wouldn't? Particularly when his popularity is all that matters? Just speculating just Like your comment is speculation. I guarantee there will be no answer on what he meant.

You mean like tarp, health care, auto bailout, taxes, libya, Iraq, etc etc.? I thought those already happened before the election? Or are we talking about meeting with Putin on missile defense. Seems like talikng missile defense with Putin is probably not tops on Obama's agenda right now. It shouldn't be.

No, I'm thinking more like immigration, deficit spending, solving entitlements / funding issues / and a myriad of other cans collectively kicked down the road. And it just isn't Obama, it is also Congress and not just the Democrats but Republicans too.

This country is deep into spending our kid's future by borrowing today. Our generation is already screwed, now they are working over the next generation. It is not sustainable.

You do not have enough evidence to come to that conclusion.

An administration can't take on every issue imaginable at once. To tackle something like negotiation over missle defence isn't going to hapen right before a major election unless it's very time sensative which this is not.

This seems like common sense.

Haters.

-spence

JohnR 03-27-2012 02:30 PM

No, not "haters" Spence.

This is the people's business, the people's future, the national interest of our country. This is the future our generation and the one before us leaves to our kids.

Both major parties, but more particularly the democrats, are kicking some of the most important topics in our national interest down the road and taking a pass. We are spending 1.4 trillion dollars more per year than we take in. That is probably the #1 issue facing the long term stability of this country. The simple fact that we are on our way to being broke.

This did not start in Jan 2009, but it is accelerating.

George Bush started that path and the Republicans have been hog tied by Norquists pledge. It certainly isn't the only thing, but Bush tax cuts plus Iraq and Afghanistan account for 1/2 the debt. They were much bigger contributors than tarp or any part of the economic recovery. There has been no budging on tax policy, not based on the advice of economists, but rather some jerk who forced Republicans into a stupid pledge. I agree that both sides need to straighten things out, but without the option of flexibility on taxes, the Republicans are stuck behind Norquist.

"Right before" the election? Spence, according to my calendar, the election is more than 7 months away. Is Obama getting paid by the taxpayers for the next 7 months? If so, he is not getting paid to campaign, he's getting paid to lead, oh forget it why bother...

Nope. Obama signed the legislation extending those tax cuts. They are now the obama tax cuts.
