Raystown Lake, PA
long shot here. so my OBX trip got cancelled because Hatteras island is not letting tourists in until the end of the month.
now i'm heading to Raystown Lake, PA for a week. there supposed to be good landlocked striper fishing there with fish commonly caught at 20-30 pounds. record fish in 1994 was 53 pounds. anyone been there and know what they're keyed in on? someone told me live trout and alweif. not sure how to rig those live. any ideas on plugging and what colors to use there? |
that question would be asked at the local B&T
but you can bet any Crayfish imitation would work mint. |
It is similar to river fishing. Live bait obviously works. The shops out that way will sell alewives and trout. However, sluggos, bombers, red fins, etc. will work too. Any of the major colors are fine... silvers, olive, alewife sluggos, black. CHeck ebay for some of the old rainbow trout red fins, if you don't have any.

I miss going to fin and feather. I used to get 300yd spools of 50lb whiplash for $19. The good old days. My buddy asked me the other week if they carry eels. You know Raven?

EELS at Fin and feather ?
i did not see them or smell them while there yesterday
to be honest the owner and i were reminiscent talking about the Good ole days a bit..... about a wild red heaedd fisherman (passed) we both knew whose personality is etched in my stone... he'll be sending me an email shortly when my order arrives so i'll be sure to ask |
thanks
